Route 66 have built up a huge repertoire of music over the last 10 years, performing at hundreds of weddings and functions across Munster. The vast experience this has provided us, along with our professionalism and expert musicianship, allows us the ability to ‘read’ the audience. We never have a specific playlist as every crowd is different – age group, demographic, geography, background etc. An important part of our job is to adapt and adjust the set to suit the audience on the night to maximise the enjoyment and heighten the atmosphere!

Waltzes and Irish:
In order to cater for the more ‘elderly’ guests, as well as the ballroom dancers, most modern Irish weddings will have a set of waltzes/irish at some point during the night. Route 66 are very experienced in this area – we know what to play, and when to play it to keep as many guests as possible on their feet!

Some song examples are: Annie’s Song, Que Sera Sera, Red Rose Café

We are not trad musicians and so we do not play the Siege of Ennis. However we are happy to play the Siege on MP3 for you. A good time for this is during the band’s break, just after teas and coffees have been served. Alternatively, if you have booked your DJ with Route 66, the Siege also goes very well at that stage of the night.

First Song:
Your first dance is a very important and enjoyable part of the evening. All your guests will be around you, the atmosphere will be electric and everyone will be excited and happy to be part of your celebrations. The first song is a very personal choice for you and your new spouse. Remember, it does not have to be a slow song! Route 66 recommend you choose a song that you both like and are comfortable dancing to.

A list of first song suggestions is available on request. Route 66 would be happy to learn a new song for your first dance if it is not already part of our repertoire.

Also, we are happy to play the original MP3 version of a particular song, should you prefer.

By tailoring our set to suit your guests, as well as including both your tastes and favourites, we guarantee to provide music for your wedding that will have you and your guests on the dance floor until the small hours!

Route 66 always contact wedding couples before the big day to discuss and finalise things in more detail.

All i can say about Route 66 is amazing!!!!!I have heard them in pubs but at our wedding they were brilliant. They had the crowd up on the dance floor from the first song to the last…Dave was great to deal with and met up with us to go through the first dance and other songs we would of liked to be played. To this day people that were at the wedding are still commenting on how good they were…I would defo recommend Route 66. Thanks to Dave and Route 66 for making the night a memorable one. Rob & Edel

We had Route 66 for our wedding in July and you couldn’t get a more professional yet friendly group. First dance was amazing! My friend was at the door of the room when the first dance instumental music started and he genuinely thought it was a cd that was playing because it was so good, but then the drummer started to sing and he could see the band play and it was obvious that they were just a fantastic band that were as good as any I’ve ever heard!! This set the tone for the whole night, every song was fab, the mood was brilliant and they read the crowd brilliantly. I can’t recommend this group enough…book them!!

Prices are for weddings in Munster. There is an additional cost up to a maximum of €200 for travelling to other provinces of Ireland. Costs for New Years Eve weddings vary.
